COPPA

Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act

The Childrens online Privacy Act became effective on April 21 2000 and applies to the online collection of personal data from children under the age of 13. Although it is an American objective it is widely becoming a world wide web standard and as SCAC have started utilising the latest technology within its website we feel obligated to abide by this objective, as we also feel that childrens safety online is of paramount importance. We therefore ask you to read these guidlines and if you feel as a Parent or Guardian that they may be improved in any way please contact the webmaster.
In order for SCAC to provide provisions within our website (forum, membership renewal etc.) we need to collect personal information from children (being our younger junior members) under the age of 13 and up to 16.
We have made this information as secure as we can; Any member visiting the site has to have a login ID, before they can enter the Members Area and this data alone (only the webmaster and SCAC Comittee have access to this information) can not identify any individuals personal information to the Public and Member environment. Once logged in to the secure Members Area members can then and only then create a full profile which does contain personal information.
As we do not allow Public persons to register with our site and use certain provisions we have to offer, we understand that we have taken adequate precautions. If any floors are brought to our attention we will endeavour to put these right immediately.
