Having raked and baited a swim the previous evening I arrived at the lake at half four and had 3 tench in the first 20 minutes, I also had countless roach rudd and perch. I also caught an 8lb pike who was after one of the rudd I was reeling in. At about 10:30 the tench began spawning activity in the large weed beds in the middle of the lake which put an end to their feeding.I finished with 7 tench to 5lb 8oz. Most were caught on fake casters and bunches of red maggot.
