Stait Lake 07/01/2015

The Environment Agency  have tested the water at Stait Lake again over the xmas period  and the results have come back with the level of blue-green algae still well above the safe threshold so it will remain closed until we are given the go ahead . 
I am sorry that i cannot give you any positive news at this time but we are trying to clear the algae and do have barley straw in the lake and have been using Excalibar which is basically a barley straw extract.
Unfortunately the weather is not helping as a prolonged cold period would really help destroy the algae but on the other hand it is not warm enough to make the barley straw work either.
We will continue to liase with the EA towards a solution to this situation.
