As a lot of you are aware Franklins and many other lakes around the country suffered from an oxygen crash in November due to unusual weather conditions.
A couple of weeks later fish started to come up from the bottom including some of the named ones.
We have unfortunately lost approximately 20 plus fish in Franklins Lake, which have been surfacing during December.
Among these, approximately 5 big fish around the 30lb mark have been lost, with the rest being stocked fish from last year.
I believe this is caused from stress due to the oxygen crash a few weeks back and not KHV as some people have suggested, as KHV typically occurs during the summer months when water temperatures are between 16-28 degrees.
This has been absolutely devastating for us, and we can only hope that no more will appear. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support as we work through this.
